A trick that i have found particually useful in my design is making sure that the texture that you want to use is selected before you press build, as it can get very annoying having to individually apply textures to surfaces.
if you want to select all the faces of that 'built' shape use shift+B it is the short cut for select all faces of that brush, also you can right click and there are alternative select options with their shortcuts labelled
