Description of each level - Answers to questions you may have

Above Level - The reason why i have designed the above level in such an unsual style is that it was relating to the word "Shallow" and as seen in the studio design the actual space is quite small and doesn't have a great deal of depth applied to it. This was sort of taking it literally but the contradiction to this notion of shallow was shown in the supports that protruded from it. These supports parodied the notion of shallow by creating another dimension and in fact expanding the field to make it have quite a deep dept.

Between Level (Gallery) - The gallery is an interesting space when viewed and talked about. Firstly the gallery isn't literally located on the floor level - this was the interesting concept of the building as the supports in which the gallery is seated on are on the ground and the glass sphere (which encases the gallery) is situated on them, which in turns connects it to the floor level - but is still technically on the ground. This idea of connecting materiality with nature is eveident in this space as the concept of the octopus' tenticals is shown in the circualr supports around the building. This portraying the idea of nature connecting with structure.

Below Level - The reason why I have designed this building in this way is that i wanted to display the word "protein", which related to this level. I created this connection through the dimensions of rooms to passage ways. the rooms were large and the passage ways were small and sunken into the bottom of the rooms structure. This was to represent a DNA or Protein lattice (hence the refernce to her artwork.) Also, the texture used inside the below studio assisted in a link to the word protein as it demonstrated a complex and confusing ideal, and to most people that is what protein is to them - a complex and confusing ideal. Another very interestering aspect that i tried to capture in this level was the sense of growth and repair - which is what protein would encode for. To show this i have put windows undergound. This allows the people within the building to gaze out into the dirt and the properties below ground to see the functions of a growing environment.

Well I hope my explanations of what I ws trying to portray throughout my Building and its individual levels is now clear.
